Podcasting
Further proof of Bluesky being included in the conversation: Transistor.fm allows you to pull a person’s profile from Bluesky now. Super handy feature I use all the time on some podcasts I work on.

At least Neville’s putting all my podcasting gear to good use while I try to figure out if / what I should do for a podcast. 😆😴
Inspired by a recent convo in the ShopTalk Show Discord, should you bleep / edit swears in your podcast? (TLDR: IMHO it doesn’t really matter as long as you’re consistent with what your listeners expect of your show.)
2024 seems to be the year some tech companies are “taking their podcast production in house”. It feels like the ying / yang of how these things go, just sucks to be on the yang of it. Or is it the ying?
(p.s. give your contractors a heads up so they can plan accordingly.)
It’s the time of year when the sound of the birds flying overhead on their journey south can be loud enough that I hear them with my headphones on while editing a podcast. #WinterIsComing
RIP iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle. I think parents would love an iPad nano style device with a basic GPS tracking feature built in so kids could listen to music or podcasts, and do some sort of of basic messaging.
First time in my podcast editing career that someone was having contractions while recording the podcast. 🎉 (No word on whether they’ve had the baby yet!)
With Chartable, a podcast analytics app, being shut down by Spotify after they acquired it 2 years ago (who saw that coming??), Dan at Bumper has some good options for what should you use instead..
A theory that isn’t 100% true or accurate, but feels truthy sometimes: Software developers would rather spend a year building an AI bot to help them write better emails / record better podcasts / make better videos / etc. than work on their own skills in those areas.
Tech podcast editing milestone of sorts: my first time editing a podcast with DHH on it.
New blog post: Micro.Blog Podcasting + OP3 Stats
There Isn’t A Void! You Can Subscribe By The Way.
Turns out you’re out there. I’m honestly overwhelmed at the number of replies saying they listened. You can subscribe like a traditional podcast in Apple podcasts and Spotify, visit microblog.chrisenns.com/podcast to find the links, or just search in your favourite podcast player for Faraway, So Micro.
Kelce brothers apparently signed a $100 million dollar, 3 year deal with Amazon’s Wondery for their podcast, New Heights. Which is similar to what Travis Kelce’s football contract is. Wild.
Oooh! Logan’s back with his awesome Music for Makers site. Such a great resource for songs for podcasts (and more). If you can afford to or make money from your creations, be sure to hit his donate button to support his efforts.
I finally sorted out the artwork bug and got my micro.blog podcast (micro-cast?) set up at the popular places. Details on how to subscribe are here if you’d like to hear mostly unedited thoughts I speak out into my phone and publish. Kind of like the rest of my social media experimentation. 😉
Turns out the issue with my Micro.blog mini podcast feed was, of course, the artwork. 🤦♂️ I should’ve known. (Wrong size / ratio for Apple.) So I went out into my cabin and took a quick selfie with my fav toque to use instead.

A Test Of My Microblog Podcasting System
It’s been over a month and Apple podcast Connect still hasn’t approved this podcast to be viewed in Apple Podcasts so I’m testing out this episode to see if I can get it to work.
I know this is a pedantic things I just need to get over… but whenever I hear or (especially) read someone refer to their podcast or a podcast episode as “…the pod”, I feel the need to scream really loudly at the wall for 5 seconds.
I sometimes think one of the people on the podcast I’m editing are un-listening, over-talking jerks—when in actuality I moved their track ahead by accident.
Always check to make sure tracks are aligned appropriately. 😆
