I didn’t realize until watching way too many tiktoks that some Americans actually use the phrase “cussing” when they’re talking about swearing at each other. I just thought it was an old-timey phrase, like in Fantastic Mr. Fox. 🦊
I feel like this example Chris Coyier blogged about trying to find a moment in a podcast he’d listened to could be the more interesting angle for AI / transcription tools to go after: podcast power users who want to find stuff in things they’ve listened to.
Nerds in 2013: “I buy so many domain names. It’s crazy. I’ve got like $200 in domain names right now I’m not using!”
Nerds in 2023: “I’ve got $5,000 worth of video and audio gear in my closet because I live streamed twice.”
It’s a silly thing, but I find it funny that Descript—an app that transcribes spoken word to text—doesn’t recognize it’s own name when spoken.
