I want to help people use geeky things like Mastodon if they want to learn - but now that it’s snowing for real, first I have to winterize our trailer rather than doing it a month ago when I should have. 😝 🤦♂️
I’m here for a song that works as well with 50,000 people singing along, or stripped down to nothing more than a cello, harp, and light percussion. Bring on the Songs of Ascent.
Apple appreciation GIF: How smooth the animation is in Logic Pro when zooming in and out of a track. It feels extra buttery when using a Magic Trackpad of some sort.
Well “Axeyard” - if that is indeed your real name - I didn’t need your comment. Have the day you deserve.
Heads up to anyone using my Logic Pro marker to Markdown TimeJump converter Pen - the latest version of Logic Pro v10.7.5 released this week breaks it by adding extra characters at the beginning of every line. 😡
Even if they didn’t already have the best UI for adding podcast episode details - trust me, I add and update a lot of podcast episodes - Transistor’s “import guest details from Twitter” is worth switching for alone. 😆 So much time saved!
Took me almost 4 hours of snoozing the notification, but I finally called and booked a haircut. Now where’s my cookie?

I realize this makes me more of a slave to the Apple iCloud service, but I’m loving the Hide My Email feature for signing up to online services or giveaways. No worries about my main email addresses going into lists or syncing across services.
Is Substack still the devil it was earlier this year? I can’t tell anymore because a lot of writers I follow are setting up on Substack as a possible new home in lieu of all the fun things happening here on Twitter. It’s certainly an enticing platform they’re building.
Ice, Ice, Baby
There’s a lot of sounds, besides the obvious one of people talking, that gets picked up by microphones and I get to hear while I’m editing podcasts.
One that triggers an instant “Ooh I want that!” is the sound of someone drinking something with ice. It could be iced coffee, pop, alcoholic beverage, soda water, juice - I have no idea what’s actually in the glass. But that clinking sound of ice in a cup as it’s being tilted up to someone’s mouth and then back down triggers an almost pavlovian response in my brain to want to go get myself some sort of drink with ice in it.
Here’s a clip of the sound I mean from a recent edit with all identifying sounds removed other than the ice. (You may have to click a few “x"s to let Dropbox just play the video in your browser)
How about you - want a drink?
I hate how searching for things, like the origins of the phrase “if anyone is not hungry for justice, it may be because they are too full of privilege”, yields Amazon pop up items like this. Woof.
I really can’t tell you how thrilling it’s been to have a dude with no idea what’s he’s doing, or any ability to admit when he’s wrong, ruin my church community, and now getting to experience it again with Musk and my Twitter community.
Got the notification that our Apple One bundle pricing is going up from $33.95CAD to $37.95CAD starting end of November.
I get that it’s complicated, but as one of the world’s richest companies, I wish Apple would take a small hit on “services” to help the rest of us out.
Is anyone using custom email domain that Apple offers for iCloud+ users? Seems like a great way to break some of the Gmail dependency I’ve got.
