Got boosted and flu-shot’d today and the nurse basically prepped me for 2-3 days of being down and out. 😳 “Hope you’ve got a lot of movies to watch or you can sleep!”

On days like today when the techbros try to ruin everything for profit, I like to reread @davatron5000’s excellent short story, The Mammoth.

If I’m honest, I also sometimes feel like everybody is a sexy baby and I’m a monster on the hill.

Lots of great brain nuggets in Monday’s episode of ShopTalk Show with @samkap - but this section right here is particularly great. You’ll have to listen to find out! And you’ll have to buy the book to find out more about Inclusive Design Communities.

Instagram so thirsty for engagement and jealous of those 44 billion Musk bucks.

Not enjoying having to spend the day dealing with a dead minivan battery. On the upside, it died in our garage so we could charge it enough to be able to drive it to a mechanic and get a new battery swapped in. On the downside, that costs money.

This is definitely an ice cof. Tastes like it’s missing the d, f, f, and e.

An iced coffee drink with the number 2175 on the side and “ice cof” as the description on the label.

I also agree in spirit with @gruber’s assessment of Musk’s letter to advertisers, but it seems naïve to think that Musk is suddenly going to be a responsible force for good, when he’s been a chaotic mess up to this point.

Co-signing @manton’s post Dear Elon Musk. I know there won’t be a mass exodus from Twitter until there’s a new place to land with enough people to make it all worthwhile. But I do encourage you to write & post elsewhere as well so you’re not locked in to any one platform.

TikTok has a Live Studio app (Windows only) for live streaming out to TikTok - enabling gamers to stream. You need to have 1,000 followers or more to use it. Privacy issues aside, it’s interesting to watch them iterate so much faster than Instagram / Meta in this space.

Found via @veronique - yet another really simple blogging site called Bear blog with a delightful tagline of “Publish something awesome with your bear hands.” Free to use, custom domain support, and just write.

There’s a great country style cover of Tayler Swift’s Anti-Hero from an artist on TikTok that, if I want to pre-save it on Apple Music, I have to allow some FFM app access to my listening activity and media library? How broken is this all?

A screenshot of a dialogue pop up that shows FFM.to requesting access to my Apple Music media library and listening activity.

If you’ve been using Warp for a macOS terminal, check for an update before updating to Ventura. Nothing critical but will save you having to manually download the app again.

MacRumors writers: “How do we illustrate that a rumored 16” iPad is bigger than the current 12.9" iPad Pro?"

MacRumors graphic department: “On it!”

This is a friend’s new puppy here to cleanse the timeline.

Randomly have a UVFSService using up your Intel Mac’s CPU? Try removing Bootcamp - if you use it - from Spotlight’s search. (System Pref > Spotlight > Privacy > + > Find the Bootcamp drive and and click “Choose”)

From when they announce OS updates back at WWDC to when it’s finally released, I often forget why I should bother upgrading. The main reason I’m looking forward to macOS Ventura is Mail improvements - but this list helped me remember what else has changed.

Another series that makes the monthly price of Apple TV+ worth it is Bad Sisters. Lovely Irish accents, lovely Irish scenery, Eve Hewson (daughter of Paul) is awesome in it, and lovely murder mystery fun. (Not quite finished S01 here so no spoilers!)

Idea for a new add-on service I could offer clients: check your breathing rhythm to make sure you’re getting enough oxygen. (This is @stolinski’s pattern. Seems healthy enough to my non-doctor eyes. 💯/ 💯)

A close up of a waveform from a podcast recording showing little bumps in the audio where a breath likely happened.

If you do nothing else different this week, please tell someone why you want to talk when you ask them to give you a call or have a meeting. A simple “Hey want to catch up” or “Hey want to ask you about your income tax from 2019” goes a long way to helping an anxious brain.
