The Pre-Puppy Episode
I’m recording this on Thursday, September 12th, which is one or two days depending on how it works out.
Before we welcome a puppy into our home for the first time as a family, we’re getting a dog.
Finally giving in or caving to my three kids varying degrees of desperation for a pet beyond the fish we’ve had.
And I’ve had dogs as a kid in my own family, but it’s been 20 plus 30 almost years since.
And so there’s a lot of sort of nervous anticipation of what this will be like.
And because it’s a puppy, especially because it’s a puppy, plenty of people who I’ve talked to about it have said, oh my, you’re going back to having babies.
Kind of level of enjoy your sleep while you can.
Puppies will bring a whole level of chaos to your life.
And so I’m just recording this in advance for posterity of the nervous anticipation of dog life.
There’s a lot of positive.
I’m not negative by any means really about it all.
It’s kind of fun to just focus on the sort of like, oh my gosh, what are we getting into?
But there’s definitely the hope and the desire.
And I’m trying to have low expectations, I guess, because every dog is different, obviously, and how it affects our family and how it affects me personally, etc.
But definitely looking forward to the idea of a companion, a friend, in a pet form at least, and just someone, especially as I work from home alone all day, every day.
And yeah, we’ll see what it brings.
So anyways, this is the pre-dog episode.
We’ll see what the post-dog episode is like if I ever get around to recording one.
