I love when a podcast client says in their recording to me, as if I’m in the booth with them, “Oh shoot Chris… what did I just say? Oh make it sound normal, ok?” šŸ˜†

Editors love editing challenges. šŸ’Ŗ

Happy Labour Day to all those who celebrate in whatever way you need to celebrate. I’m slightly labouring today so that hopefully I can labour less later in the week. Currently editing all the podcasts with Fred from Astro on them. šŸŽ‰

Selfie of me with headphones on and disheveled unkempt hair and a tired face.

Hey me back in 2009 following Adam Lisagor for the first time because of the cool Birdhouse app’s introduction video: In late 2023 you’ll finally get the chance to edit Mr. Lisagor, albeit on another client’s podcast.

Same same but different.

šŸ† Achievement unlocked.

Logic Pro X screenshot of a track showing a audio waveform with the filename of "Adam Lisagor" above it.

I can’t read the full article, but Bloomberg has leaked that Descript is buying Squadcast. Descript is a transcription / screencast / editing app, Squadcast is for recording and live streaming podcast conversations. Interesting acquisition.

I feel like this example Chris Coyier blogged about trying to find a moment in a podcast he’d listened to could be the more interesting angle for AI / transcription tools to go after: podcast power users who want to find stuff in things they’ve listened to.

Please reset the “A web developer mentions the edge technology and so Chris feels obligated to throw in a U2 audio clip reference as a joke only 5 people who listen to the podcast will get” clock. (Ref: ShopTalk Show #575 next week.)

Experimenting with Auphonic again after being away for many years. Any podcast editors out there using it in their daily production?

Podcasters might be trying to use AI to get rid of me, the podcast editor, but I’m secretly using AI to get rid of podcasters with my library of audio of their voices. Pretty soon I’ll be able to publish better episodes without the need to spend time recording silly humans. šŸ˜‚

Editing a client’s podcast and the guest starts off by saying “…and so I moved here from Dublin, Ireland” - and I know I’m going to enjoy listening to them no matter what the topic is.
