Well that doesn’t sound like fun.

✏️ New blog post: Sinéad O’Connor.

The more I see social networks flail and fall, the more I appreciate Manton & crew’s going slow approach to Micro.blog.

“Go on X and ask what kind of dog we should get?”

Well my kids have already adapted to the new brand. 🤮 😂

Good morning. Starting my day with a nice cup of Stanley. ☕️

A coffee mug half filled with coffee is in a man’s hand. The coffee mug has a STANLEY branding printed on the side.

Customizing my Stardew Valley experience to an AFC Richmond one.

Our one fish (yellow, top right) always wants to hide in this corner of the tank near the top during the day. At night, it’s fine to roam everywhere. 🤷‍♂️

Stardew Valley+ is now available for anyone subscribed to Apple Arcade.

I can’t wait until my new computer arrives and I can finally export a 90 minute 1080p video while transcribing another video while syncing 100GB via Dropbox while updating my todo list in Notion while pretending I don’t look at Twitter without my laptop’s fans spinning up.

I’ll never upgrade again!

Instead of going for stupid walks every day this week, I had peanut butter and honey on toast for breakfast every day this week.

I’m not saying these are equal achievements. I just really like peanut butter and honey.

Threadbare is spot on.

Our largest social networks are piloted by greedy shells of human beings, wretched kleptocrats that have stumbled into opulence and experienced no gratitude for their fortune. They don’t see running these companies as burdens that come with responsibility — they see them as vehicles for money and power, with full awareness that the very real consequences of their decision-making will never truly reach them.

I’m glad Threads seems to be working for some people, but for me it’s almost 90 seconds of scrolling before I see a post from someone I follow. Obviously that can be fixed, but it’s a pretty lame experience for a social media app in 2023.

Interesting: Why EposVox is giving up on Windows. He edited the video in 8K on the Mac Studio, and is producing in 4:3 format intentionally.

Please reset the “A web developer mentions the edge technology and so Chris feels obligated to throw in a U2 audio clip reference as a joke only 5 people who listen to the podcast will get” clock. (Ref: ShopTalk Show #575 next week.)

Experimenting with Auphonic again after being away for many years. Any podcast editors out there using it in their daily production?

Good fire. Goodnight.

A fire in a solo stove fire pit close up. One log is burning.

Podcasters might be trying to use AI to get rid of me, the podcast editor, but I’m secretly using AI to get rid of podcasters with my library of audio of their voices. Pretty soon I’ll be able to publish better episodes without the need to spend time recording silly humans. 😂
