I wasted an hour of my morning because I forgot that WordPress requires you to pay $400CAD/year for hosting if you want to install one of WordPress’ own plugins.

I’ve been hearing more about Fourthwall as a Patreon alternative, but only from random websites mentioning it. I haven’t seen any creators I follow using it afaik. Anyone subscribed to someone via Fourthwall?

I’m trying to like Stage Manager on macOS, but it’s not quite clicking for me. I can see how it’d be handy on an iPad, but my brain is so hard wired to singular windows and CMD-tabbing my way through them.

I have to take some recalled salad back to Costco which will probably end up costing me $350.

I feel a similar sentiment applies to podcasting as well. a.wholelottanothing.org/2024/02/0…

My hope for YouTube creators is much like bloggers. Don’t spend all your time chasing the tea leaves and conventional wisdom. Focus on your channel/site and keep creating things you love that will resonate with your viewers/readers. Hopefully the money will follow, but obsessing over how to eeek out every last cent from your work will make your work suffer.

My ideal work week has 80% podcast editing related activities, and 20% invoicing, estimating, and related business managing activities.

Is there someone out there who’s the inverse of that? Wants to edit 20% of the time, but otherwise enjoys estimating and invoicing? 🤔

Hey #Saskatchewan peeps: what awful corporation have you signed your cell phone plan(s) over to these days and why?

These are the estimates Tiktok shows you for potential earnings from “going live” on tiktok. I assume this is what those cosplaying NPC accounts are chasing? So far I’ve gotten $0.05 off my 700 followers. 😆

Tiktok saying if you have 2,000 subscribers you’ll get $4,200 a month Tiktok saying if you have 50,000 subscribers you’ll get $105,000 a month Tiktok saying if you have 100,000 subscribers you’ll get $210,000 a month

Almost every online community I’m connected with has a fair share of people who dip in to say “look at my stuff” and then dip out just as quickly. I know there’s always the self promoters among us, but it seems worse than it used to be.

Just me? I miss community.

Oh wow. I am so surprised that Spotify is walking back a feature that a bunch of podcasters used and now their shows are gutted. Who could have seen this coming?? /sarcasm

Have you ever wanted to fix a video where the Minister of Education keeps looking down at the script instead of into the camera? Me neither. Either way, here’s a Descript tutorial on how to do that if you ever need to.

I want to live stream my work editing podcasts if for no other reason than it would help me focus on the task at hand rather than showing how embarrassingly often I let myself get distracted down a social media rabbit hole.

Does anyone else’s Mac Studio drop USB connections over night? I wake it in the morning and often my external USB C SSD was disconnected, and my USB hub disappeared as well. They work fine if I cycle them off and then on again.

This is an awesome breakdown of how Marie Poulin started their podcast, and figured out where automation could help make it all flow even smoother.

Are you even really using Descript if you don’t have this notification popping up every couple of days?

A zoomed in view of Descript with a “A new version of Descript is ready!” pop up.

Anyone out there ever used / using Gumball.fm for sponsoring a podcast? Or managing sponsorships for a podcast?

Alright. 14.3 seems like a good time to update.

macOS software update screen showing macOS Sonoma 14.3 upgrade now.

I need a stud finder finder. Somehow after having the same stud finder for 20 years, it’s gone missing.

BeReal—but it’s a video call everyone joins at the same time for exactly 10 minutes.
