New #U2 song and video: Atomic City. Released as they start their residency in Vegas at The Sphere this weekend.

Does macOS Sonoma give you the ability to turn off the stupid Mail link preview thing that makes a mess of emails? If so, I’ll upgrade yesterday—audio plugins be damned.

Woof. That wasn’t a great season opener for Survivor. 😳 No spoilers, but I can’t imagine Jeff was happy that’s how it went down for episode one.

Why your podcast needs a website #203: When I’m linking to your podcast from another podcast’s show notes, I’m not putting Spotify, Apple, YouTube, Pocket Casts, Podtail, Podchaser, Libsyn, RSS, BlueBorfy, PodTats, CastsThatArePods, etc. links.

I’m putting one so listeners can decide.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but a reminder that Survivor season 45 starts tonight.

New Shure SM7 mic variant just dropped: SM7DB No need for a vocal preamp, still XLR only. They’ve also (recently?) added a MVX2U which is a USB-C to XLR digital audio interface that’s very portable.

I shouldn’t upgrade to macOS Sonoma today because I’m in the middle of editing a podcast. But then I thought: the guest on the podcast works at Apple. I’m using Apple software to edit on Apple hardware. Is this not the perfect synergy to tempt fate??

(Spoiler: I didn’t upgrade to macOS Sonoma.)

I’m a fan of competition, but something about Descript / Squadcast using my filenames or file download source metadata to target a competitor (Riverside.fm)’s users doesn’t smell right for some reason. Just me?

Email from Descript that reads: The All-in-One Solution&10;We notice you've been using Riverside and Descript for recording and editing your podcast or video (or both). That’s great, but we have some news: Descript has remote recording now—so you can record, edit, collaborate, and publish your content, all in one tool. &10;&10;If you've found Riverside, and its Edit in Descript feature, useful, we're confident you can streamline your workflow and save a ton of time—and money—by recording and editing in Descript.

I always wondered why Apple didn’t let you listen to the Music interviews more easily—glad to see they’ve added them to the Podcasts app.

Finally back to time for a stupid walk for the old 🧠

U2y podcast episode on Pop

TikTok has added text only posts. It’s always weird when a platform tries to go outside their natural medium so I don’t think this will work all that well.

What the heck is this LinkedIn? 🤣

  1. I have no employees, it’s just me.
  2. How did I not know that Adam’s been working for me for 2 years?
  3. Can I take a vacation now that there’s finally someone to cover for me??
email from LinkedIn reminding me to celebrate employee milestones, listing an Adam who’s been working at Lemon Productions for 2 years.

It’s hard to tell when exactly I posted a few videos about provincial politics and education issues. 😆

Recording a podcast locally and didn’t notice I ran out of space on my memory card. Pull it out and realize I’ve been relying on a 2GB memory card when a 128GB version is $18 (tax in). 🤦‍♂️

Guess we’ll just record that part again.

Ok let’s see if @chriscoyier has a blog post coming up on this: What’s the best iPhone car mount with magsafe charging? The only one Apple lists is a $110 mophie vent mount which I always feel a bit sketchy about using vents to hold up the phone.

What’s in your vehicle?

That’s twice in one week where @chriscoyier has read my mind on a decision I was waffling on and written a blog post telling me exactly what I should do. Earlier it was web hosting, this time it’s about using subdomains for your side projects.

Based off of nothing more than this blog post by Robin Rendle, I’m tempted to order a Kobo Libra 2 e-reader. Anyone else have one? I can’t do Kindle because they don’t work with the libraries here in Canada.

Love the renewed focus on iPad apps. First Camo releases Camo Studio and now the makers of Halide, a popular photography for iPhone, have published Orion an app that allows you to use your iPad as an external monitor.

I kind of want an iPad again. 🧞
